On a cold, rain-soaked day, a tiny kitten was discovered alone, his small cries echoing as he called out for his mother. A nearby worker heard the desperate meows and didn’t hesitate—immediately rushing over to find the source and offer help.
Earlier this week in Boca Raton, Florida, a construction worker paused mid-shift after hearing faint, urgent meows nearby. Following the sound, he discovered a tiny ginger kitten drenched from the rain, crying continuously and clearly in distress.
Despite searching the area, no mother cat could be found. The kitten was alone, soaked, and far too young to survive without immediate care—desperately needing bottle feedings and warmth.
The workers gently placed the tiny kitten into a box and quickly reached out to the community, hoping someone could step in. Their call for help didn’t go unanswered. Marnie Jelin, a local foster volunteer, saw the message and immediately offered to take him in.
Carmen Weinberg from Animal Friends Project arrived to collect the kitten and assist with getting him to safety. Though he was thin, chilled from the rain, and clearly underfed, he was otherwise stable—a small but hopeful sign that he had been found just in time.
“He was extremely hungry when I got him,” Carmen later shared with Love Meow. Eduardo, the construction worker who found him, had explained that the kitten had been crying constantly, but they had nothing on hand to feed such a tiny baby.
Based on his size and development—just beginning to open his eyes—the little ginger was estimated to be around two to three weeks old, far too young to be alone and completely dependent on bottle feedings to survive.
Around the same time, Marnie had taken in a feral mother cat who was searching for a quiet, secure place to raise her own kittens.
Realizing that a lone kitten would have a far better chance with a nurturing mom, she decided to try something hopeful. She carefully introduced the tiny newcomer to the mother cat—now named Sarafina—to see if she might accept him as one of her own.

Marnie took the little orphan from Carmen and brought him to his new mom. The kitten’s cries immediately caught Mama Sarafina’s attention.
“I think, she thought I stole her baby. After smacking me to put the baby down, she took him right in and started cleaning him as he started nursing,” Marnie told Love Meow.
The kitty finally calmed down and crawled up to the milk bar, purring away. “I have yet to hear him meow like that again.”
The tiny newcomer blended in as if he had always belonged. He curled up beside his new littermates, purring contentedly while Sarafina carefully bathed him from head to tail, making sure every inch of him was clean and cared for.
The change was almost immediate. Within a single day, he gained strength and began filling out. His once-slim frame rounded into a satisfied little belly, and his damp, scruffy coat turned soft, fluffy, and bright.
Marnie later shared with Love Meow that the transformation was undeniable. Compared to the fragile kitten she first received, he now looked happy, secure, and completely at ease—clearly thriving under a mother’s care.
“He’s doing great. Mama Sarafina is caring for him beautifully,” Marnie shared.
Now, the once-lonely kitten spends his days wrapped in warmth, purring nonstop beside his adopted family. Safe, fed, and surrounded by love, he finally looks exactly how a kitten should—content, comforted, and completely at home.
